l1 optimization techniques for automotive idle speed control

摘要
This paper describes the use of the l(1) optimisation technique, a time domain method, to design a robust controller for the idle speed control problem of a spark ignition automotive engine. The l(1) optimisation method allows the design of control systems where the objective is to minimise the maximum magnitude of the bounded system outputs that result from magnitude bounded inputs and norm bounded uncertainties. Non-linear simulation results are presented for both l(1) optimal controllers. Sub-optimal designs are considered.
