Battery Energy Storage System and Improved Communication Topology for Enhancing Power Quality of Microgrid

摘要
Micro generations are becoming more and more feasible because of evolution in power electronics technology. This micro-generation comprises the photovoltaic, wind turbine, gas turbine, biomass, diesel generators, etc. A microgrid is a small-scale power grid that can operate independently or collaboratively with another small power grid. Microgrid contains renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. Because of the sudden change in climate conditions or electrical load power system faces voltage and frequency violation, a consequence power quality issues (related to voltage and frequency) may arise. This paper focuses on microgrid dynamics and mathematical expressions for change in active power to be injected or consumed by the grid in order to compensate changes. Increase in battery energy storage connected to the microgrid helps to increase the system inertia and to avoid violations. At the end of the paper, the bidirectional grid-connected inverter along with improved communication topology has been discussed.
