Critical temperature of metal-insulator transition (Peierls transition) of metallic carbon nanotube (tube (n, n); see [4] and [5] with respect to the notation of tube) has been estimated considering the electron-phonon interaction. Specifically for tube (5, 5) with a diameter of similar to 7 Angstrom, it has been found out that the Peierls-transition temperature T-p is equal to 9.1 K and the energy gap E(g) to 1.26 x 10(-3) eV at T = 0 K.
