Control of electrostatic field localization in field-emission structures

Specific features of various methods used to increase the field-emission current of carbon-containing structures, which are intended to control the localization of electrostatic field on a micro-, nano-, and mesoscales, are considered. An original field-emission heterostructure is proposed in which the activation of the emitting layer of carbon nanotubes is ensured by incorporated dielectric inclusions. The mechanism of the electrostatic field localization in systems of this type is described. The efficiency of using mesoscale dielectric inclusions to develop technology for reliable, long-lived field electron emitters with increased current emissivity is justified.
