A few words about ironicznie and z ironia

The subject of this paper is the analysis of two expressions: z ironia (with irony) and ironicznie (ironically), and the author's purpose is to indicate their place and function in the utterance and to determine the relation between the two. The author's analysis is based on the criterion of the connectivity of the two expressions with verbs. Two groups of verbs are defined, for which the common denominator is communication. An overview of the types of usage of the expressions that are analyzed confirms that the irony is implemented in speaking, in the act of communication. The expressions z ironia and ironicznie are equivalent from the users' point of view (right-and left-sided position in relation to the predicate; not determined by the verb creating the sentence; function of adverbials of manner). The expressions z ironia and ironicznie are more of a commentary on the situation, rather than referring to the verb itself, especially if the utterance lacks a more expressive marker of irony.
