摘要
The Department of Metallurgy and Strength Physics at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS) is devoted towards solving specific problems related to innovating high-technology sectors. The main priorities of the department in terms of its scientific research include the physics of the deformation and fracture of materials and structural and metallurgical factors in the quality of traditional materials and promising new materials. Solutions are found to important problems in the physics of deformation and fracture, which includes developing new methods on the basis of the stochastic mesomechanics of deformation and fracture. Researchers have discovered two paths to ductile fracture that include the classical path of loss of stability of the flow of metal and the premature formation of an internal neck from the cracking of inclusions. New materials and technologies are created in which the principles of structural design have been used as a basis for proposing and patenting a new class of high-speed, high-durability steels.
