摘要
When vertically coupled double quantum dots are placed in strong magnetic fields, B, a combined effect of Landau's quantisation and the electron correlation results in specific electron configurations, or 'electron molecules', that are developed across the two dots. The ground state versus B has 'magic-number' total angular momenta, which are observable from the optical absorption. If one describes the layers with pseudospins, an analogy with single dots with real spin degrees of freedom may be sought, where the group theory for the electron molecules developed by Maksym can be applied. There indeed appear RVB (resonating valence bond)-like states that have their counterparts in double dots. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
