摘要
The Internet and World Wide Web are popular in educational circles, and educators at all levels are attempting to use them in teaching. A lot has been published about the Internet and about teaching people to use the Internet, but there is very little available about the 'Net as a tool for instruction. This paper covers the use of the World Wide Web and Internet as teaching aids in a semester-length college course. The paper discusses the use of the Internet and Web, both as in-class teaching tools and for communication between the instructor and the students A general discussion of the state of the Internet is included, as are suggestions for the use of electronic mail, LISTSERVs (mailing LIST SERVices) and the World Wide Web in a class environment. Guidelines for setting up a library or class WWW homepage are also included. The paper also describes the use of a Web-based online tutorial for library and/or class-instruction, as well as using a Web page as a public repository for instructional materials and ''how to'' publications and as a presentation tool. In-class demonstration of the Internet and hands-on instruction are covered. Also covered is the use of other types of computer technology for library instruction. Copyright issues are discussed. Six references.
