摘要
This article analyzes the discipline of Social Thought in Brazil (STB), considering its similarities and differences with the broader field of History. Although crucial for shaping this discipline, the work of historians did not make STB an autonomous subfield in History - as occurred with the Social Sciences. In this sense, this text will explain how STB field was shaped by an unequal interdisciplinarity that moved it closer to Sociology, comparing the results with institutionalization processes of rival subjects/disciplines within the broader field of History. To conclude, the article proposes a dialogue between historians and the field of STB based on a) current debates about intellectuals and archives and b) criticism towards Eurocentric approaches and claims for more democratic research agendas.
