Evidence for quark effects in high-energy d((γ)over-right-arrow,(p)over-right-arrow)n

摘要：
Recoil proton polarization was measured in deuteron photodisintegration at theta (cm) = 90 degrees for photon energies up to 2.5 GeV. The induced polarization p(y) is consistent with vanishing above 1 GeV, consistent with expectations from perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) and in disagreement with meson-baryon calculations. However, polarization transfer observables are non-zero, indicating that hadron helicity is not conserved.
