Study of Wuhan Ecological Sustainable Development Based on Ecological Footprint

摘要
To apply the ecological footprint theory and evaluation methods, this paper calculates and analyzes the ecological footprint of Wuhan in 2007, and measures the sustainability off socio-economic development and ecological conditions of Wuhan City in the macro. The results show that Wuhan faces greater difficulties in sustainable development, ecological security by stress, and it's per capita ecological deficit is up to 2.1461476 hectares. This paper analyzes the reasons leading to this situation, and concluded: Wuhan needs to continuously improve the resource utilization efficiency, strengthen the cultivated land, forest and water protection, and imports the shortage of energy resources; from outside the region in order to balance the growing ecological deficit.
