摘要
A weighted-average technique to calculate the response of a structure equipped with a wire rope spring tuned mass damper, TMD, is presented. The probability distribution of structure-TMD relative displacement envelope is assumed to be of the Rayleigh-type and is used as a weighting function in averaging the amplitude-dependent response. The method is verified by comparing the calculated response with the measurements obtained from the experiments. Further, design charts are developed for structures subject to a white noise random force. The charts are in the form of contour plots for the equivalent viscous damping ratio, provided by the TMD, and the ratio of root-mean-square (RMS) relative displacement to RMS primary system displacement.
