Bombus (Subterraneobombits) distinguendus Morawitz, 1869 is recorded from Attu Island, in the western Aleutian archipelago, and is recognised as a species new to both the Alaskan and the New World faunal lists. Colour variation and food plants are described and a key to females of Nearctic Subterraneobombus species is provided.
