摘要
The dynamic growth of cities makes us rethink the forms of planning urban spaces, making reflection and practice regardingsustainability, and thus allowing perennial benefits for future generations. Using indicators associated with the new urban agendas, helps a more orderly and sustainable growth, reducing inequities and assisting managers' political, strategic and business decisions with the objective of improving the quality of life of the citizen and the equitable use of the projected spaces. Within this focus, this article through an exploratory qualitative research, sought the principles and concepts of sustainable urban development and the use of sustainability indicators as an urban planning tool, specifically the Sustainable Cities Program in the city of Barueri. The results present a critical reflection on the use of indicators in urban planning and the sustainable development of cities.
