摘要
Oral tissue engineering can be applied in a simple way to modify the color, contour, and position of teeth or their supporting osseous structures. Tissue engineering can be applied in more complex situations to create missing osseous or dental structures changing the smile, the mid-facial height, and the soft tissue drape. Biomechanical principles can also be applied to tissue engineering to enhance bone/tooth or bone/implant functionality and long-term stability. Advancements are also being achieved in the area of biomimetics that will allow future creation of new biologic replacements for missing oral structures.
