Bulk synchronous reluctance rotor: A novel design concept in electric motors

摘要
A novel concept for constructing synchronous reluctance rotors is proposed. By implementing an amorphous alloy as initial soft magnetic lamination material, the anisotropy required for the proper rotor operation would be obtained by developing barriers with hard magnetic properties via localized crystallization. This approach would enable the in-situ manufacturing of permanent magnets with properties between ferrites and rare-earth (discrete) counterparts. Advantages and challenges of such concept are identified and discussed, paving the way to not only further unlocking the potential of the combination of nanocrystalline soft/hard magnetic materials, but also on energy efficiency and sustainability fronts.
