摘要
Because of its own instability, the solidification interface arises irregular in shape because the interface dynamics causes changes in both the velocity distribution and the thermal gradient in the melt. Consequently, the heat transfer and flow dynamics problems cannot be separated from the interface dynamics phenomena The report is aimed to investigate the mechanisms of this mutual influence among interface dynamics, flow dynamics, and heat transfer by using the simplest configuration of a planar interface over which a melt of the same material is flowing. A nonlinear theory of spatio-temporal pattern formation is suggested, considering the cross flow solidification from melt flowing over the solidification front under Mullins-Sekerka instability conditions Phase boundary evolution is studied and has shown nonlinearity, as well as dissipative and dispersive properties, responsible for interface grooves formation.
