摘要
Research on the synthesis of nanoparticles using plant extracts is an active area due to its wide range of applications. This study focuses on the synthesis, for the first time, of silver nanoparticles using Anagallis monelli extract. The characterization of synthesized nanoparticles was examined using UV-Vis spectroscopy, TEM, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The results indicate that the silver nanoparticles have a face-centered cubic structure (fcc) and the average crystallite size of nanoparticles was found to be 22 nm. Results highlight the superior antioxidant and antimicrobial potentialities of silver nanoparticles from Anagallis monelli which can be utilized for biomedical purposes. The synthesized AgNPs possess antioxidant activity determined by DPPH, total antioxidant activity (TAA) assays and FRAP method. High antibacterial potential has been proven against gram positive bacteria species Staphylococcus aureus and Micrococcus luteus with 15 mm and 16 mm zone inhibition respectively, observed by agar well diffusion method. Compared to only 11 mm to 12 mm of zone inhibition regarded around gram negative bacteria species Eschcherchia coli, Serratia marcescens, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Lysozyme activity and biofilm inhibition and eradication have been observed in the presence of AgNPs. The biosynthesis of AgNPs was more efficient against Candida albicans compared to Fluconazole 25 by giving drastically changes in cell morphology. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
