摘要
The authors have formulated an earthquake damage estimation method following National Time Use Survey made by NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai: Japan Broadcasting Organization). The survey was carried out in 2000, and enables us determine the percentages of people sleeping, watching TV, house keeping, walking outside, etc., hour-by-hour and city-by-city. The estimation area was Chiba City, Japan. The Genroku Earthquake (1703, M8.2) was selected as the most effective earthquake. The human loss had a high correlation with the ratio of at-home people, because it was mostly caused by collapse of wooden houses.
