摘要
Magnetic linear dichroism performed at the Ni L-2 absorption edge of thin NiO/Fe(001) films reveals in-plane magnetic anisotropy in the oxide layer. Moreover, the local magnetic moments of the nickel atoms show uniaxial anisotropy perpendicular to the magnetization of the Fe substrate. Such a behavior is radically different from that observed when Fe is grown on top of NiO(001), in which case the Fe and Ni moments tend to be collinear. The results are discussed with the help of a model accounting for exchange, dipolar, and magnetocrystalline interactions.
