摘要
Finite Element Method (FEM) was originally developed by engineers dealing with structural analysis and it is a numerical technique used to obtain approximate solutions, where the variables are related by means of algebraic, differential and integral equations. In this paper we use FEM in order to predict the stress state in a soil profile under a given load. In order to model different types of soils are used the following parameters: soil weight, Young's modulus, elastic shear modulus, Poisson's ratio, permeability, cohesion, friction angle, oedometer modulus, dilatancy angle.
