Concurrent engineering diagnostic model integrating people, organization and technology

摘要
The objective of this study is to provide: further insight into the human, organizational and technology aspects for success in concurrent engineering. Data was collected from employees in over 100 electronics manufacturing companies using concurrent engineering. A discriminant analysis model, for determining profiles of effectiveness of concurrent engineering based on organizational, human and technology variables, classified correctly 86% of organizations in the top third and the bottom third of the companies studied. ii logistic regression model was utilized to provide companies with information on the impact of improving one of the variables in the logistic regression equation and its impact on increasing the probability that the company would be rated in the top third if they are, for example, ranked in the bottom third with regard to concurrent engineering effectiveness. A checklist for effectiveness of concurrent engineering is developed and a scoring mechanism for electronics manufacturers is included to evaluate organizational wellness for concurrent engineering.
