Slotted Design of Rectangular Single / Dual Feed Planar Microstrip Patch Antenna for SISO and MIMO System

摘要
The antennas emphasize designing a modified slotted Rectangular Planar Inverted-F Antenna (R-PIFA), which operates in S-band with the single feed and dual-feed designs. For single feed in the SISO system, the feed plate and thin short plate have existed close to the same side. For dual-feed in the MIMO system, the two feed plates are placed perpendicular to each other and different side positions where the isolation is exploited in 9.6dB at S-12 for this design. Simulation results by using the Computer Simulation Technology (CST) studio suite simulator are analyzed. The results show that the R-PIFAs work fine at both 2.9GHz to 3GHz while actual impedances, reflection coefficient in S parameters, fractional bandwidth, radiation Pattern, the realized gain, electric field, correlation, and diversity gain and it have a wide range of bandwidth from around 2.7 to 3.4 GHz. The actual measurement results for the two R-PIFAs are also fabricated. It was deliberated comparing simulation, fabrication, and measurement results of these antenna characteristics such as return loss and fractional bandwidth. It was shown that the proposed R- PIFAs antenna is compact, low weight, and low cost, and it is suitable for SISO/ MIMO system in modern small satellites, especially meteorological and radar applications.
