We have studied the synthesis of lithium ion conducting Li0.5La0.5TiO3 oxide ceramics by a sol-gel process followed by calcination of a precursor at 1000A degrees C, which ensured the preparation of phase-pure crystalline Li0.5La0.5TiO3 with a room-temperature electrical conductivity of 8 x 10(-4) S/cm. The synthesized Li0.5La0.5TiO3 powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, and impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range 10 to 2 x 10(6) Hz.
