Crystal structure of ammonium Ethylenediaminetetraacetatoplumbate(II), (NH4)2Pb(edta)•3tu•H2O

Ethylenediaminetetraacetate lead(II) complex (1), (NH4)(2)Pb(edta) (.) 3tu - H2O, where tu is thiourea, has been synthesized for the first time. The crystal structure of the compound was determined. The structure is built of NH4+ cations (one of them is randomly disordered with an occupancy factor of 0.5), complex anions 4 [Pb(edta)](2-), tu molecules, and crystal water molecules. In the structure of 1, the Pb atom forms coordination bonds only with the donor atoms of the edta(4-) ligand (40 + 2N). The structural elements in I are linked into a three-dimensional framework through a branched system of hydrogen bonds N-H(...)0, N-(HS)-S-..., and O-H(...)0 involving NH4+ cations, tu, and H2O molecules. The structure of I was compared with that of (NH4)2Pb(edta) 4 2.5H(2)O (II).
