Effects of CdC12 Passivation on Thin CdTe Absorbers Fabricated by Close-Space Sublimation

摘要
Thin CdTe solar cells with absorber thicknesses between 0.6 and 1.2 pm were passivated with varying amounts of CdCl2. Current densities and voltages were relatively flat with CdCl2 dose for the larger doses, but decreased markedly for smaller amounts. The voltages of the cells with sufficient CdCl2 were near 750 mV; the current densities were near 23 mA/cm(2), and decreased only slightly for the thinner absorbers. Spatial characterization indicates that devices with optimal CdCl2 dosing are uniform.
