Design for integrated product-service offerings - A case study of soil compactors

摘要：
Intograted product-service offerings put new requirements on products in comparison to traditional selling. To reduce costs, products need to e.g. be easy to perform repairs on. The aim of this paper was to elucidate how Swepac International has worked with adapting their soil compactors for these offerings. In several cases Swepac has reduced the need of repair and remanufacturing efforts. Furthermore, the aim was also to evaluate the design of a specific soil compactor (FB-200H). Several design improvements were elucidated e.g. introduce snap-fits for a cover, standardise screws, and introduce a drainage hole on a hydraulic oil tank.
