AWARENESS OF NAIL HYGIENE AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS

Background: Introduction:To study the awareness of nail hygiene and related knowledge of nail hygiene in dental students. A cross sectional questionnaire study was conducted among 100 dental students. The participants were explained about the purpose of the study in detail. The questions were carefully studied and participants marked the corresponding answers.Fingernails collect a lot of germs and dirt which can get transferred to the body and cause various diseases andinfections. Keeping fingernails clean is very important because they can harbor germs that could make us fall sick. The space between the skin and nail has dead cells and dirt that creates a perfect environment for the growth and proliferation of bacteria.This study will be helpful in spreading awareness on the importance of nail hygiene and the risk factors associated with improper nail hygiene in dental students. Conclusion:The dental students maintain good nail hygiene but more importance and increased awareness is required as they could transmit bacteria to patients when operating.
