Catalytic carbonylation of glycerin by urea in the presence of zinc mesoporous system for the synthesis of glycerol carbonate

摘要
The glycerin is transformed into glycerol carbonate by reaction with urea in the presence of a series of heterogeneous catalyst system including metallic sulfates or zinc organomettallic sulfate. Zinc sulfate exhibits characteristic catalytic behaviour in the carbonylation of glycerin into glycerol carbonate wich gives a good molar yield of 86% at 140degreesC, 30 mbar for 2 hours.
