摘要：

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), has been investigating the development of an effective performance measuring system for the state transportation system. The objective of this paper is to describe one approach toward the development of system performance measures using non-destructive damage detection (NDD) results. To accomplish this, system performance measures are summarized and a Level IV non-destructive damage detection method identified. A simple example is provided to demonstrate how NDD results can be used to evaluate the structural performance of a bridge in-service.
