E-Health: Attitude and Health Seeking Behavior of Social Media Users

摘要
Introduction: Along with the development of technology, medical practices do not only directly, but doctors also provided medical services through virtual. There are many sites in the form of a personal blog doctors, health category sites, and portals that provide health section. The rise of the phenomenon of health sites that provide health care section is assumed to change their views on the concept of health and health seeking behavior. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of attitudes and health seeking behavior on social media users. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with cross sectional study design. Data taken in one measurement from April to June 2016. This study used primary data. Subjects were health mailing list members. The number of respondents in this study of 120 people, based on the formula Slovin with 10% of an alpha value. Results: The results showed that most respondents agree that the presence of health sites can gain knowledge (61.7%) and make smarter to health (70.8%). Most respondents expressed disapproval: health sites can make it better able to decide the plan of treatment (68.3%), do not require a doctor's physical examination (39.2%), can detect the disease without the help of doctors (42.5%) and do not need to go to doctors (39.2%). In terms of the behavior of 69.2% of respondents chose to medicate themselves first, if not successes than they will go to the doctor or hospital, and the cost saving was their reasons (69.5%). Conclusion: The majority of respondents agree that the existence of health sites can increase knowledge and make them more intelligent to health.
