摘要
The paper analyzes some aspects of waste management in Romania and.. in particular, in Iasi County, in view of the European perspective. Urban and rural waste management is considered and collection, transport, processing, recyclincg or disposal of waste materials is discussed relative to the National Waste Management Strategy and the National Plan for Waste Management, as well as European and national legislative framework. It was showed that land disposal will continue to be a disposal option but due to stricter regulation. Also, some problems with reference to waste management hierarchy and pollution prevention practices that reduce or eliminate the amount and/or toxicity of generated wastes released to the air, land or water before any management practices, treatment or disposal are explored. Local and regional authorities are heavily and increasingly involved in the management of waste. In most cases, they are responsible for developing and implementing municipal waste management plans based on the medium to long term. Solid waste management is regarded much more than a technological issue and usually involves managing a large workforce and working together closely with the public.
