摘要
Real-time transient stability assessment (TSA) in power system is to determine a power system's ability to continue to provide service (electric energy) in case of an unforeseen catastrophic contingency in real-time. During system operation, the online determination of the dynamic security level is fundamental in order to take appropriate countermeasures, with the aim of restoring the system, if necessary, to a more secure operation condition. To assess the level of system strength or weakness relative to the occurrence of an undesired event, a quantitative measure based on transient stability index is often considered. In this paper, a practical generator maintenance scheduling (GMS) which is a reflection of power generation loss due to scheduled shutdown maintenance, load shedding and large unforeseen transient disturbance in form of three-phase fault are the credible contingencies considered. These contingencies are analyzed using prony method, transient energy function (TEF) analysis and real-time transient stability assessment indexes (TSAIs) of Nigerian power system modeled on the real-time digital simulator platform. The contribution of this paper is to implement the TSA in real-time, and investigate the effectiveness of the prony method, TEF analysis and real-time TSAIs as important tools for electric energy management when subjected contingencies.
