ALGORITHMIC DEMOCRACY: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, DEMOCRACY AND POLITICAL PARTICIPATION

This article tries to show a vision of the democratic reality, mainly of the issues that affect the political participation, from the point of view of a growing incidence of the technology. The advances of Artificial Intelligence, the development of algorithms and their application to business and social issues lead us to consider that the political sphere must also adapt to the entry of these new elements. Therefore, the question is presented from a negative perspective, with issues such as political customization and the reduction of the ability to know different approaches, as well as from a positive perspective, based on the possibilities that can be derived from greater robotization of jobs, with the consequent process of increasing the time available by citizens to participate in public issues. Lastly, we analyze the legal and ethical issues involved in these advances and the repercussions they may have on future democratic systems.
