摘要
The continuously changing field of information technology requires professionals who are responsible for educating the next generation of technology to design such curriculum that can help students to enjoy productive and meaningful careers. The Joint Task Force for Computing Curricula on Computing Curricula for the early 21st century has identified five areas of computer degree concentrations. These areas include computer engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology, and software engineering. These areas represent the state of the information technology field and the educational outcomes students should pursue. A suite of computing and non-computing areas has also been identified that students in each five areas should understand. It has also been emphasized that academic programs should acknowledge the widening gap between theory and practice, as it has enormous impact on students' employment prospects.
