Cutting performance of an advanced ceramic tool and its wear mechanism

摘要
An advanced ceramic tool (JX-2 series: Al2O3/SiCx/SiCp) which is characterized by excellent mechanical properties has been developed firstly in our laboratory. The cutting performance and wear mechanisms of JX-2 series ceramic tools have been researched in detail. The wear resistance ability is JX-2-III>JX-2-I>JX-1 (Al2O3/SiCw) when machining stainless steel. The cutting performance of JX-2-II is superior to YG6X(K10) when machining electroplated pure nickel. The cutting performance of JX-2-I is superior to that of JX-1 and YG8 (K30) when wet cutting Inconel 718(GH169) at high speed. Coolant must be used when cutting at high speed. There is an optimum speed range because of the effect of high cutting temperature on strength yield point of workpiece. At last, wear mechanism of ceramic fool has been studied.
