摘要
Deformation properties of a titanium matrix composite (SiC/Ti-4.5Al-3V-2Mo-2Fe), specially designed to show high formability, have been investigated as a part of the development of a new fabrication process for titanium matrix composite components. Deformation properties were tested by tensile tests in the direction perpendicular to the fiber orientation. The MMC displayed superplasticity with m-value of 0.58 at 1048K and the strain rate lower than 2x10(-4)/s. The maximum elongation exceeding 100% was achieved at 1048K, 5x10(-5)/s without any defects. Finite element analysis has also been conducted to explain the deformation behaviour of the MMC.
