Optical centers of luminescence in thermally treated poly(p-xylylene)

摘要
The chemical structure of the optical fluorescence centers produced by thermal treatment of poly(p-xylylene) under various conditions was studied. It was found that, at the initial stage, the thermal degradation of this polymer leads to an increase in the amount of stilbene units and brings about the appearance of distyrylbenzene units and poly(phenylenevinylene) conjugated fragments. When the polymer films are heated in air, these moieties are formed and degraded at a higher rate as compared to vacuum.
