摘要
Pregnancy is an important period in a woman's life. During pre-delivery, delivery and post-delivery, humanization is essential to avoid unnecessary interventions. However, humanization policies are sometimes not used by some maternity hospitals or professionals. The objective was to verify the knowledge of the National Humanization Policy (PNH) by 13 nurse assistants in a public maternity in the Southwest of Maranhao. Descriptive, exploratory study, with a qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted between May and June 2017. Adopting the Content Analysis proposed by Minayo, four categories emerged: Nurses' knowledge about PNH; Knowledge of nurses about the manual of good practices in childbirth care and its use; Interventions performed by nurses to relieve labor pain; and Nurses' opinion about the implementation of the PNH / assistance to pregnant women in the maternity hospital. There was a limited knowledge of the PNH by nurses, showing the need for professional training.
