摘要
Ethernet technology is used in process plants only in the higher levels of the automation pyramid, but hardly at field level. Ethernet offers many advantages that could be utilized, especially in the digitization age and for Industry 4.0. So, what are the obstacles to the use of Ethernet in the field of process plants? What is a technical solution that is also viable for the coming years with increased requirements from digitalization? This article focuses on answering these questions and shows how Ethernet technology can exploit the field of process plants.
