The interaction between H. pylori and non-steroidal anti.-inflammatory drugs is highly controversial. Pathophysiological studies suggest the two factors may have additive effects in ulcerogenesis. Clinical studies, however, yield conflicting messages due to hetrogeneity of study designs. The interaction of H. pylori and NSAID cannot be as simple as either synergistic or antagonistic. History of NSAID usage, ulcer bleeding as well as other risk factors of NSAID complications should be considered. Curr Opin Gastroenterol 16 (suppl 1):S39-S43 (C) 2000 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
