Impacts of the Tourism Laws on the Tourism Market in Beijing

摘要
The main purpose of this paper is to study the impacts of The Tourism Law, which is put into action in October 1, 2013. Through in-depth interviews with the travel agencies in Beijing and a questionnaire survey conducted on tourists, the author tries to study how Beijing travel agencies are conducting domestic tourism activities after the enaction of the Law. As shown in the paper, the enaction of The Tourism Law has regulatory impacts on the domestic tourism market in Beijing, but there exists some problems in the enaction process. For example, the questionnaire survey indicated that many tourists do not know the enaction of The Tourism Law and its regulations, therefore, many tourists lack the information to safeguard their legitimate rights and fulfill these obligations, and these factors can impede the sustainable development of the Chinese tourism industry. Researches of the author show that the Tourism Law has important impacts on the tourism market. With continuous improvement of detailed regulations, the Tourism Law may contribute to promote the sustainable development of the Chinese tourism industry.
