Students' Experiences and Perceptions on the Use of Mobile Devices for Learning

The evolution of technology and the development of mobile devices are changing the way we live and how we access knowledge. Learning with mobile devices has become a social rather than technical phenomenon in the 21st century. This descriptive study explores the experiences and perceptions of the Senior High School (SHS) students on how mobile devices can affect their learning process. Five (5) private schools in the Philippines were considered in this study, totaling four hundred fifty four SHS students (n = 454). In this particular study, the main source of data was taken from the Questionnaire designed in a mixed format. The researchers analyzed the data vis-a-vis K to 12 trends on mobile devices that may be applicable in integrating with the current curriculum for senior high schools in the Philippines. Results in this study indicated a positive consequence in the students learning process. The need for a more meaningful support and guidance on how to systematically make use of the mobile devices in academic activities should be actualized.
