Studies oil some aspects of lichens

This survey of Lichens of Andhra Pradesh State, India is based on studies during 3 years (1987-90), so as to provide a floristic picture of lichens of unexplored geographic region. The lichens have been studied in relation to distribution, substrate relationship and growth forms. Most of the lichen species were of Ascolichens category. Many lichens have colonized the bark when compared to the other substrates such as rock and soil. The foliose lichens dominated the forest localities followed by crustose and fruticose lichens. Altogether 48 lichen species belonging to 17 genera were collected from diversified habitats.
