摘要:
This paper deals with clause linkage and the concept of "sentence" in French linguistics. We claim that the modern definition of "sentence" is deceptive, as it gives more importance to syntaxic features than graphic features. First, we dwell on recent history of the term "sentence", then we argue that syntaxic domains must be distinguished from graphic chunks we call "sentences". Finally, we take a look at how clause chaining and written segments interact with each other.
