In-situ Mg2Si/Al-Si-Cu composite modified by strontium

摘要
The feasibility of modification with Al-Sr master alloy on hypereutectic Al-Si-Mg-Cu alloy was studied. It was found that the Al-Sr master alloy modified the primary Mg2Si in in-situ Mg2Si/Al-Si-Cu composite. It was observed that the morphology of primary Mg2Si changed from equiaxed or irregular to polygonal shape and its size decreased from ∼80 to ∼30 μm. It was shown that the formative dendritic structure of Mg 2Si under a higher cooling rate condition changed to regular polygon shape.
