CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF AISI 304 STAINLESS STEEL IN A BIOCIDE WITH FUNGI

摘要
In this study the corrosion behavior of AISI 304 Stainless Steel, used as material of biotechnological equipment, in a biocide (Oxonia-Active (R)) consisting of dihydrogen dioxide and ethaneperoxoic acid, and in mixtures consisting of the biocide and two fungal suspensions (Aspergillus niger and Geotrichum candidum) were investigated. The electrochemical behavior made by Linear Polarization indicated that the stainless steel shows a higher corrosion rate in mixtures consisting of Oxonia-Active (R) and fungal suspensions than in that only Oxonia-Active (R). These aspects play an important role in the stainless steel surface corrosion with implications in the bioproducts quality and influences-on the safety of life.
