The effect of wheel velocity and shape on rotating airflow in super-high-speed grinding

摘要
In this paper the generation of the rotating airflow around grinding wheel and the factors that affect the rotating airflow are analyzed. Based on the boundary theory, the N-S equation of 3D pressure and velocity field around the wheel are built. The effects of the rotating speed and shape of the wheel to the grinding fluid delivery have been simulated and discussed. The simulating experiment with the Particle Imaging Velocity instrument (PIV) under different areas, rotating speed, shape and gap between grinding wheel and workpiece was carried out. The PIV photos of airflow around the wheel show that the pectinate grinding wheel is better for the grinding fluid delivery and the cooling and lubrication actions.
