A new insight into the ancient Josephus problem

摘要
The old Josephus problem concerning elimination of every third element is considered. It is proved that the sequence (J(n, 3)) may be obtained by "gluing" some finite arithmetic sequences with the difference 3. This is an extension of the known similar result for the sequence (J(n, 2)).
