摘要
This paper describes the system and service concept of ATM Wireless access system (AWA) to enable high-speed and ubiquitous access for multimedia services, system architecture of AWA, and technical challenges to realize ATM transport over wireless systems. In addition, it outlines a prototype AWA using 25 GHz band and the standardization efforts related to wireless ATM in Europe, USA, and Japan.
